EMDR Therapy
EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, is an evidence-based therapy for trauma, distressing life experiences and anxiety. It works with memories that have not settled: experiences that still carry their original intensity when something brings them back. Rather than asking you to talk through the detail repeatedly, EMDR helps the brain finish processing what it could not process at the time, so the memory becomes something you can recall without being pulled back into it.
I am a registered member of the EMDR Association of Australia, and I work within a trauma-informed framework, which in practice means we do not begin processing until you have the resources to do it safely.

EMDR therapy may be helpful for individuals experiencing:
-
Trauma and post-traumatic stress
-
Anxiety and panic symptoms
-
Distressing or intrusive memories
-
Relationship trauma
-
Life transitions and stressful experiences
-
Performance anxiety and confidence challenges
What to Expect in EMDR Therapy
EMDR follows a structured process: history and planning, preparation and resourcing, memory processing, and integration. Most people are surprised by how much of the work sits in the preparation stage, and that is deliberate. We build your capacity to stay present with difficult material before we go anywhere near it, and we move at a pace you set.
Two of the resources here give you a sense of what that preparation stage actually involves: Grounding: A Simple Tool for Overwhelm and Listening to Your Body: A Simple Somatic Exercise. Neither is a substitute for the resourcing we do together. They are the kind of thing we build first.
With EMDR you do not need to describe every detail of what happened. EMDR works with the memory as your brain holds it, not with a narrative you have to construct for me.
In-Person and Telehealth Options
EMDR therapy is available both in person at a private, nature-based setting in Martinsville, NSW, and via Telehealth for clients across Australia.
For online sessions, bilateral stimulation (BLS) is provided through secure digital tools that guide eye movements on screen, with the option to use headphones for alternating audio stimulation. This allows the full EMDR protocol to be delivered effectively in a Telehealth format while maintaining the same structured, evidence-based approach used in in-person sessions.
Booking
If you would like to explore whether EMDR therapy may be helpful for you, Telehealth appointments can be booked online via the booking page, or you are welcome to make an enquiry through the contact page to discuss whether this approach is suitable for your needs.
